Overview
JoeyLog is a baby activity tracking app designed to help families log and share feeding, sleep, and diaper information. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
TL;DR: We only collect baby activity data you enter. It’s stored securely on Firebase. We share it only with family members you invite. We don’t collect, sell, or use your data for ads or tracking. Period.
1. What Data Do We Collect?
JoeyLog collects only the data you voluntarily enter:
Data We Collect:
- Baby activity logs: Feeding times, milk amounts, feeding type (breast/bottle), sleep times, diaper changes
- Family member information: Names and email addresses (for inviting others to share)
- Profile data: Baby’s name, birth date, weight, height (optional milestones)
Data We Do NOT Collect:
- Location, GPS, or address
- Device identifiers or phone numbers
- Photos or media
- Contact lists or contacts
- Device usage analytics
- Push notification or app crash data
- Third-party tracking or advertising data
- Your personal health or activity data (only baby’s)
2. How Is Your Data Stored?
- Storage: Google Firebase Realtime Database
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest
- Access: Only you and family members you explicitly invite can view the data
- Sharing: You control who has access via QR code or email invite. Revoke access anytime.
- No third parties: We never share data with advertisers, analytics companies, or other services
3. How Do We Use Your Data?
Current Use:
- Display your activity logs in the app
- Sync data across your family members’ devices (only invited members)
- Improve app stability and bug fixes
NO Current Use:
- No ads or ad targeting
- No user tracking
- No data selling or sharing
- No external analytics
Future Potential Use (Opt-In Only):
In the future, we may improve features like “smart feeding predictions” by analyzing anonymized historical patterns. For example:
- “Baby typically feeds every 3 hours in the morning” (no personal info attached)
- Patterns are derived from aggregate data, never tied to individual users
- You will choose whether to participate (opt-in, not automatic)
- Any analysis is done on-device (locally on your phone) or with fully anonymized data
- Data will never be used for ads, selling, or any commercial purpose
4. Data Retention & Deletion
- Your control: You can delete any activity entry anytime
- Account deletion: If you delete your JoeyLog account, all data is removed from Firebase immediately
- No backups: Deleted data is not retained in backups
- Grace period: None—deletion is instant
5. Children’s Privacy (US COPPA Compliance)
JoeyLog stores information about babies (your children), not from them. Only parents/guardians enter data. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child is using the app directly, contact us immediately.
6. Data Security
- Encryption: All data encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Firebase)
- Firebase security rules: Only you and invited family members can access your data
- No passwords stored: We use Google Sign-In (Google handles authentication securely)
- Updates: We keep dependencies updated for security patches
Limitations: No system is 100% secure. If you notice suspicious activity, contact us immediately.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all data we have about you
- Delete: Remove any activity or entire account anytime
- Opt out: Decline future anonymized analytics for feature improvements
- Revoke: Remove any family member’s access
- Port your data: Export your activity logs
8. Third-Party Services
JoeyLog uses:
- Google Firebase for data storage and authentication
- Privacy: Firebase Privacy
- Your data is subject to Google’s privacy terms
- Google does not use your data for ads in Firebase
- Google Sign-In for login
- You control what data Google shares with us (we only get your name and email)
We do not integrate with:
- Analytics platforms (no Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
- Advertising networks
- Social media APIs
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll notify you of material changes via:
- Email (if you have an account)
- App notification
- Updated “Last Updated” date at the top
Continued use after changes means you accept the new policy.
